Bycatch in Northeast Fisheries: Moving Forward

June 29, 2004 - July 01, 2004

The National Marine Fisheries

The National Marine Fisheries Service convened a working group for fishermen, conservationists, managers and scientists to collaborate on finding new ways to reduce bycatch of both fish and protected species like turtles and marine mammals. Dr. Babcock of Pew Institute for Ocean Science was invited to participate as a member of the panel on Data and Monitoring, which discussed the at-sea observer program and other ways to estimate bycatch.
