EVENT DETAILS
The 4th World Fisheries Congress was a meeting of fisheries scientists, managers, fishermen and the public to discuss solutions to the problem of reconciling fisheries with conservation. Dr. Pikitch chaired a session called Decision frameworks and reconciling fisheries with conservation. She also presented a talk on potential new frameworks, including Bayesian decision analysis and ecosystem-based fishery management. Babcock, Pikitch and Hudson presented a poster on what fraction of fishing trips need to be sampled by at-sea fishery observers in order to gather enough data to estimate the number of fish that are being discarded as bycatch.
