Task Force member Marc Mangel serving as scientific expert in international whaling case

In 2010, the Government of Australia commissioned Dr. Marc Mangel-- a Lenfest Forage Fish Task Force member-- to write the Independent Expert Scientific Opinion in its case against Japan in the International Court of Justice. In this case, Australia is challenging the legality of the Japanese Whale Research Program.

Today, the Government of Australia is filing its written submission to the ICJ regarding the case. Japan has ten months to submit its written comments, and oral arguments will commence after one more round of written comments. Dr. Mangel will provide testimony at the Hague during oral arguments.
