Pew Marine Conservation Fellow Thomas Okey Appointed to Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre & University of Victoria School of Environmental Studies in Canada

October 04, 2007

Tom Okey has been appointed to two new positions on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. As the Scientist-in-Residence at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre and Adjunct Professor with the University of Victoria School of Environmental Studies, Okey will work to connect international and regional (northeast Pacific) collaborations on the ecological impacts of climate change with historical and ongoing marine science and conservation initiatives in coastal British Columbia. His international work on the impacts of climate change on marine life is supported by his 2007 Pew Fellowship in Marine Conservation. These new appointments support Okey's research designed to understand, document, and develop marine climate impacts science and policies for northeast Pacific Ocean marine and coastal ecosystems.
