PROJECTS OVERVIEW The Institute for Ocean Conservation Science pursues world-class research into pressing marine conservation issues. Our team of staff scientists, collaborators, and external grantees provide the evidence needed to influence smarter ocean policy and improve the health of oceans and their inhabitants, around the world. SHARKS FISHERIES MANAGEMENT Sharks are top predators, yet are highly vulnerable to overexploitation and many populations are collapsing. Sharks mature late, reproduce infrequently, have few pups per litter, and are overfished globally. The Institute is on the frontlines of shark research and conservation.
